A kitchen is the heart of the home.  Much of family life centres around it, particularly as many are open plan into dining and living areas.  We cook there, we eat there, we socialise there.  There are probably more design choices available than for any other room in the house.

From door styles to appliances, lighting to worktops, splashbacks to taps and everything in between, there are so many possibilities and the only limit is your imagination.  We can help you navigate this multitude of options and create your dream kitchen, no matter what your budget.

Cook & Crossman are kitchen designers based in Bedfordshire offering a full professional design consultation in your own home.  We pride ourselves in our friendly and open approach and customers often remark on how much they appreciated the fact that we listened to their requirements and came up with suggestions that suited them.

Handleless kitchens

If you like the minimalist look with simple, clean lines, then maybe consider a handleless kitchen.  We supply both the J-profile doors and the true handleless system, which is based around slab doors with aluminium profile rails. Both options are also available with curved doors.  We specialise in true handleless kitchens, which we source from a selection of UK, Italian and German manufacturers, giving us a huge range of door styles and finishes to choose from.

The appliances chosen for handleless kitchens are often integrated, but free-standing models can also be incorporated surprisingly well.   Here, for example, a range cooker looks great.  Our quartz supplier cut out the recess so that the cooker almost seems part of the worktop.  Note also the waterfall end to the quartz.  This is a stylish and durable way to finish a peninsula or island.

American fridge-freezers are a very popular choice nowadays and they work particularly well in handleless kitchens when framed with larder cabinets and a top box.

Induction hobs are often preferred in handleless kitchens, as they are easy to clean and blend into the worktop, almost unnoticed.  However, many manufacturers are now making flush-fitting gas hobs which barely protrude above the worktop surface.  These are a great choice if you prefer cooking with gas.

We use LEDs for under-cupboard lighting.  For handleless kitchens where there is often no light pelmet we avoid side-glare by hiding our strips in aluminium profiles which can be routed into the underside of the wall units.

Handleless kitchens are usually topped with quartz or grantite worktops and the popular choice of sink is the undermount style.  Sometimes customers opt for drainage grooves cut into the surface, but another option is an undermount with drainer

Shaker Kitchens

Shaker style doors are still the most popular choice for a kitchen.  There are a huge variety to choose from, be it simple shaker, beaded or in-frame.  In-frame doors can be fitted with your choice of traditional butt hinges or soft-closing hinges.  Our shaker kitchens can either be supplied with a factory finish or unpainted for finishing on site by our specialist painter.  Cabinets and doors can be made to bespoke sizes if required.  A range cooker can be complemented with a purpose-built mantel housing an extractor. Butler sink and butt hinges complete the effect.
